Tweedmill was founded in 1970 in Afonwen, located in North Wales, by John Carter under the name “Tweedmill Greenwoods.”
Later, Jackie Ryan joined the company as Head of Sales and went on to purchase the brand in 1997. Her contributions were remarkable; she transformed Tweedmill into one of the leading textile manufacturers in the United Kingdom. Sadly, she passed away in 2015.
Today, Jackie’s legacy is carried on by her eldest son, Bart Ryan-Beswick. Having worked in the textile industry for many years, Bart inherited Tweedmill when it was already a brand with more than 40 years of history. His vision was to further expand its reputation for quality and value—an ambition rooted in his strong, simple philosophy: the desire to deliver the same happiness he feels when receiving exceptional service and products. No matter how much the brand grows, Bart remains committed to helping customers find exactly what they are looking for and delivering it with care.
Tweedmill now produces a comprehensive range of lifestyle products, from its traditional scarves, stoles, and blankets to sofa and bed covers. Among its most popular items are large wool stoles and blankets in signature check patterns. Made from carefully selected materials, these items are durable, lightweight, and exceptionally warm—beloved by a wide range of users.
The brand has supplied its products not only to renowned department stores and specialty shops but also to prestigious organizations such as the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club, Hendrick’s Gin, Jaguar, Land Rover, and the P&O Shipping Company. Celebrities also admire Tweedmill’s craftsmanship: actress Anna Friel uses their cushions and throws, James Middleton owns their blankets, and former footballer David Beckham even purchased a dog coat for his puppy.
Tweedmill takes great pride in producing high-quality products from beautiful fabrics. The company is devoted to crafting items that embody the best possible feel, appearance, and quality.
